When approached by Moonpig, the dominant force in the online greeting cards sector, the team at PrintHouse were instantly interested in seeing how we would be able to help another print supplier, albeit one who operates at the other end of the market.
For the first time, Moonpig were looking to back up their traditional marketing avenues with a targeted Xmas Gift Guide. A5 in size and 20 pages in length, their aim was to create an impactful direct mail piece that contained a fully personalised front cover that was to enter the post in it’s own right to a database of around 80,000.
Being a new format for the company, PrintHouse made sure the whole project was fully sampled in advance, allowing Moopig to select from a variety of different material types and a couple of format options. Once decisions had been made on this front we set about completing full wet proofs and production tests to ensure the data would print exactly as required, to include the customer’s first name appearing as if part of a gift tag on the front cover, marrying up of course to said person’s name and address that was to print on the back.
With all in place we took the database and cleansed it of ‘goneaway’ and ‘deceased’ records before sending for print, with the cover fully personalised. Job was then stitched, trimmed, mailsorted and despatched using our partners at TNT that gained a handy discount for the client whilst ensuring a 2 day drop time, timed to coincide with then end of the half term holidays.
Initial feedback from Moopig’s clients has been extremely positive with most saying they’d be keeping the guide and using it to order from over the busy Xmas period – music to Moonpig’s ears. We’re hoping it proves a great success and will be the first of many such pieces we help them produce.
Said Loretta Avanzi, Marketing Manager:
We were very excited to be creating our very first Card and Gift Guide and Dan and his team made the process run so smoothly. Not just a print house but so much more, they advised on paper quality, helped with our data cleansing and distribution, they couldn’t do enough to make sure this project was a success. The final product was fantastic; great quality and extremely professional.
