Duplex bonded luxury business cards (that’s double or triple thickness to you and me) are becoming more and more popular as clients seek to make a truly memorable first impression, especially when combined with one or more of the special finishes we’ll look at below.
Duplex Bonded Luxury Business Cards
While some see their contact card as just a throw-away or carrier of basic information, for others it’s the chance to really stand out and impress. For those in the creative and service sectors, a card can often be the only leave behind carried. So it better be impressive. The question is how?
A business card that is double or even triple the normal thickness provides a really tactile difference. So how does this type of quality business card work? Well it’s simple in truth.
Printing presses can only run onto boards of a certain thickness – the standard card being 400gsm. But print the front onto one side of card A, the back on one side of card B and then, simply, glue the two parts together under great pressure – and now you’re looking at duplex luxury business card.
Make mine a triple
For mega thickness glue three cards together! Now you’re holding a triple layer business card. And for a cool effect, how about sandwiching and different coloured board in between.
Complete with silver foil, rose gold or rounded edge card stock
Just bonding duplex and triplex may not be enough to make a super impact. So, for those that really want to stand out, adding a special finish to cap your cards off is the way to go.
There are some terrific options available:
- Painted Edges to your card
- Laser Cutting
- Rose gold foil printing
- Rose gold cards
- Silver foil cards
- Bronze foil cards
- Debossing
- Embossing
- UV coated cards
- Foil Blocking
- High gloss
Painted Edges on Business Cards
How about matching the edge of the cards in your corporate colour? We can mix most colours and, under pressure, spray the edges. It’s a unique effect, something few can offer.
Laser Cut Business Cards
With our new dual-headed laser cutter, almost any shape, even intricate, can be cut out. Have a look at these two to give you an idea of how laser cut duplex business cards can be so effective.

Triplex Business Cards
Why stop with a double!? Triple the thickness, maybe with an alternate colour in the centre.
De-bossed Business Cards or Em-bossed Business Cards
Applying pressure through a die adds a tactile element to your cards. Debossing sees the image pressed into the card, embossing sees the image pressed out of the card, almost like braille.
Foil Blocked Business Cards
Can be spectacular – but don’t just think gold or silver. Foil block your business cards in blue, red, pink, copper…..there are few limits
What card stock should I use?
Most of our double-thickness business cards use premium uncoated stocks. GF Smith Colourplan, with its range of 50 colours and 20 textures, is the most popular by far. We can even use recycled kraft paper.
Laminated Business cards
When you want a double thickness business card but your corporate ID requires full-colour imagery, printing on coated materials is essential. But to these, we suggest adding a matt or perhaps a velvet lamination. Combined further with foil and/or painted edges, the effects can be as spectacular.
